Drunk & Drugged Driving (3D) Prevention Month
Since 1981, November has been designated as National Drunk and Drugged Driving (3D) Prevention Month. Throughout the month, efforts are renewed to educate Americans about the consequences of driving drunk or under the influence of drugs. People are encouraged to drive responsibly and to avoid putting themselves and others at risk. By getting the word out about 3D Month, communities can implement effective strategies like sobriety checkpoints and information workshops, which combat drunk and drugged driving.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a disease that destroys the nerves controlling voluntary muscle movement. In children, this affects crawling, walking, head and neck control, and even swallowing. One in every 40 people carries the gene that causes Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and the condition can strike anyone of any age, race or gender.

International Childhood Cancer Campaign Month
The Childhood Cancer Campaign is a forum that many different Optimist International clubs from around the country use to raise awareness and money toward helping find a cure. During International Childhood Cancer Campaign Month, all of these clubs participate in at least one Childhood Cancer Campaign project or activity so they can make a big impact.
